Po Leung Kuk is a charitable organization founded in Hong Kong with the objective of “caring for the young and protecting the innocent”. Besides child care, women’s refuge, rehabilitation and elderly services, education is our key service which aims to nourish more talents. We have also established a number of charity funds including the “Charity Fund for the Disadvantaged” and the “Quality Education Fund” to provide financial relief to those who are in need, as well as additional resources for our schools to implement various improvement initiatives.
FCC has been actively promoting the welfare of the underprivileged in the Hong Kong society. It is the sixth year since the inaugural FCC Ball in 2002. Funds raised over the years are used as scholarship funds which help the Kuk’s needy youngsters in the pursuit of higher education and hence a life of their dreams.
Also, the Language Training Centre has been established since 2004 with the joint efforts of the FCC and the Kuk. Children under the Kuk’s residential care are now given the opportunities to strengthen their language proficiency in English and Putonghua with the guidance of local and native teachers in a friendly and relaxed environment. The program aims to enhance their communication skills which will be helpful in the pursuit of further studies and career development.
We are most delighted to share with you that plans are in place to start a new Development & Language Training Centre for Underprivileged Children in a public housing estate so that more of those in need will be benefited. In facilitating language training among children from poor families, we hope they can gain greater confidence to face adversity and challenges in the future.
It is most encouraging to see that this meaningful project has seen tremendous growth in all these years. On behalf of Po Leung Kuk, I would like to extend our most sincere gratitude to the FCC Ball Committee Members, sponsors and partners who have contributed so much to make these worthwhile initiatives come true. We will continue to do our best and work with the FCC in enhancing our care and services to the less fortunate. |
